Bad Breath Remedies

Bad breath remedies………………….

Bad breath, when measured against other health problems, seems small in comparison. Yet, if you were the one with continual bad breath, it would be a big problem.

Persistent bad breath is also known as Halitosis. It is usually a symptom of an underlying problem. It does not come from the stomach.

Anaerobic bacteria are the odor causing kind of bacteria and they can not live in the presence of oxygen. As your oxygen levels decrease, the anaerobic bacteria increase.

Saliva is used as an irrigation system for the mouth. It washes away the debris and bacteria in the mouth and from the tongue. When the flow of saliva is decreased or the growth of anaerobic bacteria is stimulated, this will cause bad breath.

Causes of Bad Breath

Morning breath is caused because the flow of saliva had decreased throughout the night. Saliva contains oxygen so this means your oxygen level is lower also, allowing the anaerobic bacteria to thrive, causing the bad breath.

People who sleep with their mouth open and those who snore are prone to worse morning breath. Alcohol causes the mouth to dry out and lower the saliva and oxygen levels which causes bad breath.

Other causes of bad breath can be traced to insufficient oral hygiene. If you do not clean your teeth after eating, bacteria will feed on the food particles left in your mouth and emit sulfur as a digestive by-product.

Poor diet, constipation, tooth decay, gum disease, smoking, chronic mouth infections, decaying mercury fillings, liver failure and kidney disease should all be considered when looking for a bad breath cause.

Bad Breath Treatment

Brushing and flossing remain high on the list of how to get rid of bad breath. Tongue scrapping is also considered and important tool in fighting Halitosis. Use mouth wash on a regular basis.

If the cause can be traced to gum disease, get regular cleanings at your dentist and follow their advice on treating the gum disease.

Coenzyme Q10 is a good supplement to use for people with active gum disease.

If constipation is a problem, Milk thistle is an excellent supplement to detoxify and cleanse your liver.

Drink lots of water to keep your system healthy and the growth of anaerobic bacteria decreasing.
