Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not make enough hormones.

There are also specific foods, such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, peaches and pears that contain substances known as “goitrogens.” Goitrogens can interfere with thyroid function, so people with severe hypothyroidism may be advised to limit their consumption of goitrogen-containing foods.
People on a hypothyroidism diet may also increase consumption of foods that are high in vitamin A, zinc and iodine, as well as the amino acid tyrosine. These nutrients play a role in boosting thyroid function.
